(Dan Tri) – Comrades of deceased pilot Roman Filipov recounted the moment of nervousness and suspense right after the Russian Su-25 fighter plane was shot down by Syrian rebels with a MANPAD shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile.

Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, the official newspaper of the Russian Ministry of Defense, interviewed Major Filipov’s fellow pilot, who controlled another plane flying near the Su-25 that was hit by a missile and learned about the story of the last moments before
“I’m hit… The right engine is on fire… Head south.
Filipov’s teammate, instead of leaving for safety, decided not to leave his teammates in the moment of danger.
“When the MANPAD missile hit the commander’s plane, it was a card-turning situation.
The fellow pilot said he almost immediately informed the search and rescue team about the accident and tried to keep Filipov in contact with the command center.

After the Su-25 plane was shot down, Mr. Filipov escaped and parachuted safely to the ground.
The terrorist organization Tahrir al-Sham, affiliated with al-Nusra Front, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Moscow intelligence forces cooperated with Turkish intelligence to bring Major Filipov’s remains to Russia.
